Editorial mission

About Deep Design Media

Deep Design Media is an English-first editorial platform on the systems behind private housing: how residences are acquired, designed, renovated, furnished, financed, staffed and inhabited — and what art, architecture and capital do to that system.

It is not the newsroom of a lifestyle magazine and not a sales page for a studio. A reader should be able to open a URL and see work: analysis, briefings, field notes from rooms that have already been built.

What we write about

The beat is the private residence as both an asset and a life. That includes, without pretending the list is closed:

Family Offices and private wealth
Private real estate and renovation
Architecture and interior design
Art in the house — collection, commission, hanging
Procurement, suppliers, logistics
Project delivery and contractors
Capital, pricing, capex and value
Operating a house after handover
Housing systems and prefabrication
Light, acoustics, materials, recovery

Commercial work of the publisher stays outside the articles. Where a piece sits close to that practice, a disclosure is printed at the end.

Publisher

Deep Design Media is published by Deep Design GmbH, Berlin. The company plans, renovates, specifies and coordinates private residences in Europe. More than twenty years of practice. More than two hundred realised projects. A Berlin base, work across Germany, Cyprus and other European sites. The method used inside the practice is called State Design on the market and Auratic Design internally. The publication does not exist to sell that method. It exists because the same questions keep returning after the invoice is closed.

Aleksandra von Linden

Editor / publisher

Aleksandra von Linden

Architect and founder of Deep Design. She writes the first cycle of stories and edits the masthead. Previously published and taught as Aleksandra Pankova.

Architecture by training. Twenty years in interior design and more than two hundred realised projects. Ten years on the Berlin market. Author of more than 270 texts on design, space and the way a room changes how a person lives and decides.

She developed the 12 Directions system — twelve spatial characters — and has taught it to designers and clients as a way to specify a house from the life that will inhabit it, not from a moodboard.

Selected talks. ART MOST, “Interior and Art”, speaker from Berlin ahead of Maison&Objet Paris 2026 — how a practice changes when it starts to be read in the context of art. “Hygge in design: how interiors make the Danes happy”, after Copenhagen Design Week. “Archetypes, clothing and interiors.” Conference “Visual”: what a room says when no one is speaking. PhotoDecorMarket: placing photography in an interior. Business school “Na Arene”: brand image, philosophy and archetypes in visual work. Websarafan: first impression. Vandastyle and NoT FaSHion: twelve archetypes in interiors. Conference “The art of expensive sales”: visual code and price. Field reports from Maison&Objet Paris and Salone del Mobile Milano. Lecture cycle on contemporary interiors — principles, not seasons.

The speaker list is longer. The useful part for this publication is narrower: she has spent years standing in rooms and then explaining, in public, why those rooms behave as they do.

Ben-Martin Abraham

Co-founder and managing director of Deep Design GmbH. Procurement, manufacturer relationships, logistics. Photo and video for the publication until a separate picture desk exists.

Berlin for many years. Background in management and hospitality before the company. On a project he owns the part that most editorials never see: whether the specified object can actually arrive, in sequence, in the house that was written about.

How to read the name

Aleksandra von Linden is the name on the masthead and on current European work. Aleksandra Pankova is the name under which a large part of the written and teaching archive was built — articles, courses, talks on archetypes, brand and interiors. Both names belong to the same author. Older citations are not a second person.
